Di-segni mistici

The images of the Trinità dei Monti church, with its frescoes, altarpieces, sculptures and sacred furnishings, together with the sound of a cappella singing and reciting voices. These are the 'Mystical Di-signs' that inspired Salvatore Luperto and Liliana Ebalginelli, director and scriptwriter of the 20-minute video, presented at the Fondo Verri. The spiritual atmospheres dialogue by affinity or contrast with the more than 40 verbo-visual works, including book-objects, painted plates and collages. A cappella songs such as the Exsultet, Mozart's music and the choir merge into a sacred dimension with a language that goes beyond logical-discursive thinking. Embracing the visual verb, the sound, discovering its essence, vigour, meaning, metaphor, the double to ascend to knowledge, beauty, spirituality, as if suspended between visible and invisible, immanent and transcendent, finite and infinite, divine and human, through word and book, poetry and music. The reciting voices belong to Simone Giorgino and Piero Rapanà, the choir is that of the Brothers of Jerusalem, a French-speaking monastic community inspired by the work of the prophet and thaumaturge Saint Francis of Paola.
