Camerata Musicale Salentina/ Katia e Marielle Labèque

They are sisters by blood and piano. Their music has quickly become a benchmark for four-handed performances of the prince of instruments. Katia and Marielle Labèque studied classical music since childhood with their mother Ada Cecchi first, and at the Paris Conservatoire later, but they achieved international fame with their contemporary interpretation of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Since then, an ascending artistic trajectory that allowed them to experiment with different genres and languages, to browse through music and interpret it with great modernity, combining the sound with a strong visual and communicative impact, so much so as to inspire artists such as Miles Davis and Thom Yorke. The documentary “The Labéque way” by the Almodovar brothers is dedicated to them. The duo will take the stage at the Apollo theatre for the 54th season of the Camerata Musicale Salentina, with the interpretive power and elegance that distinguished their entire career.
