Camerata Musicale Salentina/ Gidon Kremer

The first appointment of the month of December proposed by the Camerata Musicale Salentina for its 54th season is not to be missed. On the stage of the Apollo Theatre comes Gidon Kremer, one of the most important violinists on the classical scene. Kremer, born in 1947, of Latvian origin, took up the violin at the age of four thanks to his father and grandfather, both professional violinists. His training then continued with Voldemārs A. Stūresteps at the Riga Conservatory, before perfecting with David Ojstrach and becoming one of the most daring and unconventional artists of his generation. With his recitals, he has performed on all the most important stages in Europe and North America. Kremer comes to Lecce with a rich chamber music programme, performing music by Schubert, Kancheli and Rachmaninov, together with cellist Giedre Dirvanauskaite and pianist Georgijs Osokins.
