Barocco festival/ The written improvisations

The 26th edition of the Barocco festival "Leonardo Leo" also touches Lecce, with three appointments in the church of Sant'Anna embellished by its new organ. And it is precisely at this that maestro Cosimo Prontera sits to perform the lineup of works enclosed in "The Written Improvisations." Almost an oxymoron, given the extemporaneously creative nature of the art of improvisation, but one that actually focuses attention on two centuries, the 17th and 18th, during which the practice began to sclerotize to the point of fixing on the musical staff the composer's own improvisational skills. The Toccatas and Variations were born from this path. On the set list: Juan Bautista José Cabanilles, Gregorio Strozzi, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Giovanni Salvatore, Gaetano Greco, Alessandro Scarlatti and Luigi Vecchiotti.
The musical moment is preceded by a greeting from Giuseppe Capoccia, president of the "Antonio Pignatelli" association, and speeches from music critic Eraldo Martucci and instrument maker Nicola Canosa. Tickets available at concert venue.
Tickets: 3 euros.
