TEATINI CINEMA/ My wife's story

Wednesday is 'Cinema Awards', a selection of films that have won prestigious awards at the most important film festivals. The 'Teatini cinema' review features 'Story of my wife', directed in 2021 by Ildikó Enyedi, starring Léa Seydoux and Gijs Naber. The film, a sentimental drama, runs 169 minutes and is set in the 1920s. It tells the story of Jacob Störr, a captain of a merchant ship, a hard worker and a man respected by everyone who, while in a café, bets with a close friend that he will marry the first woman who walks through the door of the café. As chance would have it, it is Lizzy who walks in. The couple get married and move to Paris, although Jacob does not know much about his young and beautiful wife. The marriage does not work because Lizzy appears more and more mysterious and elusive to Jacob. The man begins to wonder if his wife isn't hiding something from him.
