TEATINI CINEMA/ Ariaferma

Wednesday: "Award-winning Cinema". Under the auspices of "Teatini Cinema," curated by Lecce's DB d'Essai, it's the evening of films that have won awards at the most distinguished festivals, and Leonardo Di Costanzo's "Ariaferma" won two David di Donatello awards: one for best leading actor and the other for best screenplay. The story revolves around the two main characters, Toni Servillo, an officer who had to take over the momentary direction of the prison, and Silvio Orlando, a dangerous camorrista, and is set in an old prison in the days when it is to be decommissioned. A small group of inmates remain, waiting to be transferred, along with a few prison officers in an unusual and suspended atmosphere that pervades the old walls. Divisions, tensions and protocols are loosened, and prisoners and jailers, for a brief but intense juncture, seem to share a common fate.
Beginning at 9 p.m., with box office opening and entrance to the cloister from 8 p.m.
