Teatini Cinema/ Amarcord

It is one of Federico Fellini's best-known films, the best of all time according to the BBC. "Amarcord," a univerbation of the Romagnolo dialect phrase meaning "I remember," has entered the Italian language with the meaning of "re-enactment in a nostalgic key." In 1973 the Romagnolo director co-wrote the screenplay with Tonino Guerra for this 127-minute film, which racked up awards: among others, 3 nominations and a first prize at the Oscars, 3 Nastri d'Argento, 2 David di Donatello, 1 Golden Globes nomination. It chronicles life in the ancient village of Rimini, from one spring to the next in the early 1930s. Exactly one year of history, where the whimsical inhabitants (Gradisca, Volpina, Giudizio, Biscein, Scureza) interact with village festivals, "Fascist Saturday" gatherings, wait in the moonlight for the passage of the ocean liner Rex and the Mille Miglia car race. But the real protagonists are the daydreams of the village youth, including Titta, and their overbearing sex drive. For the Teatini Cinema review.
