European Film Festival/ Iazz Bann

The film by Lorenzo Zitoli and Salvatore Magrone falls in the 'Cinema and Reality' category. 'Iazz Bann', the brainchild of Livio Minafra, retraces the history of the municipal music school in Ruvo di Puglia, which had been active since the end of the 19th century. Entire generations of children, especially the poorest, learnt to play an instrument and approached the Opera liria. The school reached its heyday from the 1920s to the 1960s and, in the immediate post-war period, churned out several jazz musicians and became famous for its brass players, especially saxophonists.
