20 years without Bene / Salome

While Herod revels in the halls of his palace, without his knowledge a horrible metamorphosis takes place. This is the opening scene of “Salomè”, the film adaptation that Carmelo Bene brought from the theater into cinemas in 1972. The film is shown at the Castromediano Museum on the occasion of “Against the cinema. Review on Carmelo Bene's cinema ", by Professor Emiliano Morreale, professor at the La Sapienza University of Rome. The film met with the favor of Moravia, De Chirico, Turcato, Flaiano but caused scenes of indignation at the Venice screening to the point that the intervention of the police was necessary. "The impossibility of martyrdom in a present world, no longer barbaric, but exclusively stupid" said the master.
The appointment is part of the cycle of events organized by the Carmelo Bene Archive and the Biblio-museum complex in Lecce.
Free admission with reservation and green pass, via App Io Prenoto or on 0832/373572.
