20 years without Bene/Hermitage - Don Giovanni

There are two works by Carmelo Bene on the program at the Castromediano Museum for “Contro il cinema. Review on Carmelo Bene's cinema ", curated by Professor Emiliano Morreale, professor at the La Sapienza University of Rome. Bene's operation was to bring theatrical works back to cinema, to his cinema, and in his own particular way to fathom the paradox in tragedy. He did so with "Don Giovanni" in 1970, in which his lyric was rendered by an uninterrupted sequence of shots, some of which are so reduced as to be almost subliminal. With "Hermitage", 1968, shot in his suite, number 804 of the Hotel Hermitage in Rome, Bene ventured into directing for the first time but was also the protagonist of the short film in a continuum of memories, rituals and reflections.
The appointment is part of the cycle of events organized by the Carmelo Bene Archive and the Biblio-museum complex in Lecce.
