Palai - group exhibition of international artists

Palai - group exhibition of international artists

11am-1pm; 4.30pm-8pm

25 July - 15 September

"Palai", a grika word meaning palace, Palazzo Tamborino-Cezzi in particular, is the new exhibition project that aims to rethink contemporary strategies, started by the two French galleries Balice Hertling and Ciaccia Levi who, in turn, have involved other 8 realities from around the world: Antenna Space (Shanghai), Blum & Poe (Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo), Sadie Coles HQ (London), Bill Cournoyer/The Meeting (New York), LAYR (Vienna, Rome), LC Queisser (Tbilisi) and for Italy Veda (Florence) and ZERO... (Milan).

"Personally, I have always loved Lecce and its incredible architecture that changes colour at every hour of the day," said Daniele Balice explaining the genesis of the project, "There is something about Lecce that makes it very welcoming to contemporary artistic practices. The idea came from a very natural exchange between Balice Hertling and Ciaccia Levi during a rainy day in Paris. I am Apulian, Nerina - the founder of Ciaccia Levi - is also, so there is a lot of personal stuff behind this project and the choice of venue".

The historic palazzo in Lecce, famous for the Pompeian red that can be seen in the glass gallery on the first floor and for the bucolic garden that hides beyond the main door, thus becomes a nerve centre for new ways of enjoying art, a place where artists, curators, gallery owners, critics and enthusiasts can meet, talk and share ideas.
