My friend Pulcinella

"My friend Pulcinella," explained set designer Luttazzi in the presentation of the exhibition held in Lecce these days on the occasion of World Puppet Day, "spends almost all his time dreaming or running away from those who do not allow him to dream: his wife, the carabinieri or some supernatural characters such as death or the devil. And what does Punchinello dream about? Luxurious theatres where he will be the great protagonist, he dreams of ballerinas and clowns, he dreams of flying to the moon, of spending his nights in a fantastic amusement park and he dreams of always being able to rest in his bed on the roof of the little house by the sea'. Sketches, scenes, posters and puppets designed by the set designer and illustrator, who passed away in 2007 and was twice nominated for an Oscar for animated films, colour and animate the spaces of the Augustinian complex for the day celebrating marionettes promoted by the "Union Internationale de la Marionnette", founded in Prague in 1929 and celebrated in over 100 countries around the world. The exhibition brings together material collected over several years of research and offers the possibility of approaching and getting to know the famous Italian mask through a new and original perspective.
Performances, shows and workshops are also planned for the anniversary.
