Strade Maestre/ Womaneroes

Women are strong, beautiful and different from each other. The message from Czech photographer Eliska Sky is clear and direct. In a world obsessed with standards of beauty unattainable to most and poisoned by bodyshaming, the photographic project "Womaneroes" challenges and subverts contemporary aesthetic canons, proposing women of different ages and physical sizes who boldly and proudly embrace their bodies through the transfigurative power of body painting. Painting themselves in bright colours and patterns, these women claim ownership of their physical parts, celebrating their strength and confidence. The female figure is redefined as colourful, playful and powerful, in a universe where all shapes and sizes are welcome. The artist Eliska Sky, a Londoner by adoption, uses the medium of photography to capture the diversity of beauty. Hers is a new conception of beauty not only for fashion and portraiture, inspired by a surreal aesthetic, sensitive to inclusivity and acceptance.
