Visit to the garden of Palazzo Giaconia

Among the fragrances of spring blooms, in the shade of the pergola columns and towering palm trees. Easter weekend is an opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the lesser known and more delicately green corners of the city: the sixteenth-century garden of Palazzo Giaconia. The particular green space, created after the palace in 1593 at the behest of Angelo Giaconia, monsignor from Lecce and bishop of Castro, is what remains of a much richer bucolic area which also included an "impluvium", a square basin useful for collecting the rainwater and various finds (bas-reliefs, inscriptions, statues) that Giaconia had collected in the excavations of Lecce, Rudiae and Salàpia. The garden is accessible for two days from Piazzetta dei Peruzzi and from the walkway of the Parco delle Mura Urbiche.

The garden is open and can be visited from 10 to 19.

Free entry.
