Spring Fai Days

Spring Fai Days represent a bit of a metaphorical greeting to winter and a great desire for beauty, and for this reason they are expected as we await the summer. Following the volunteers of the Italian Environmental Fund, visitors can discover the wonders of the city that are usually inaccessible. Among the places open to visitors this year there is also the church of Saints Niccolò and Cataldo, with almost a thousand years of history enclosed within its walls. It was founded in 1180 at the behest of Count Tancredi d’Altavilla, together with the adjacent monastery (now one of the seats of the University of Salento). It is a precious example of Apulian Romanesque, located outside the city walls, and welcomes you with its façade on which the original portal and rose window stand out while all around explodes the Lecce Baroque signed by Giuseppe Cino.
