May 1st at Tagghiate Urban Factory

It is the city that regenerates itself in the true sense of the word, that finds a space lost in time, forgotten, yet full of charm and many stories to tell. The May 1st party also coincides with the opening of Tagghiate Urban Factory, the urban park in via dei Ferrari managed by the sustainable Oikos association in collaboration with local associations and businesses. A shared place open to all that comes to life in the embrace of an old Lecce stone quarry, from where the stone was extracted which then gave the city its architectural and baroque face. The park is at the same time an environmental education center, a small vegetable garden, a public workshop and a space for events and concerts.

The day of celebration and inauguration kicks off at 10.30 with "Welcome to the park", the greeting of the mayor Carlo Salvemini, and the councilor for urban regeneration Rita Miglietta.

At 11 am the agricultural market at Km0 opens and at 11.30 the journalist Giorgia Salicandro presents the book by Stefano Martella "The death of the giants".

From 11.15 to 12.15 there is the reading workshop on the lawn (aimed at children aged 3-5 / 6-8 / 9-11 years) while at 15 the Tuttogreen one starts, which teaches how to make earth and clay "bombs" and seeds for guerrilla gardening (for children aged 3 to 12).

At 16.30 it is possible to take part in the guided tour in the nearby Urban Forest of Lecce managed by the WWF Salento.

At 5 pm we gather around the round table "Dying at work", to talk about safety at work, understood as an investment rather than a limit, together with Angelo Salento and Marco Marrone, professors of the University of Salento, and Sergio Bellavita, trade unionist at the Basic Union of Trade Unions. Journalist Gabriele De Giorgi moderates the meeting.

There will be no lack of flavors and music: until 10 pm you can taste typical sandwiches and excellent street food by La Ncartata with a side DJ set with mister Pantu and R&D Vibes.
