Art and science, the union is not new but it is always surprising. It is the 70th anniversary of the birth of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the Lecce section takes part in the 12 exhibitions that take place in as many Italian cities with the Art & Science Across Italy project. With the aim of bringing boys and girls closer to the fascinating world of science, the initiative involved the Salento schools of Lecce, Gallipoli, Maglie and Manduria, Brindisi and Taranto, inviting students to create science-themed works. The works, no less than 59, "inhabit" and color the spaces of the former church of San Francesco della Scarpa, exhibited alongside those of various international artists. From particle physics to the Higgs boson, from painting to photography, from sculptures to digital works, the exhibition is a real, young and contemporary look at scientific knowledge that also offers the opportunity to converse with the teachers and researchers of the University of Salento and of the INFN section of Lecce, as well as with the students of the Liceo Virgilio of Lecce who illustrate and tell the different works. The most "significant" will be awarded on April 12 and will later be exhibited for the national competition at the MANN (National Archaeological Museum of Naples).

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with UniSalento, Province of Lecce, Polo Biblio-Museale of Lecce and Days of Promotion of Scientific Culture, with the patronage of the Municipality of Lecce.

Free admission. Hours: 10-20.
