Botanical garden of Salento

Ailanthus, black locust, glaucous tobacco. What do these plants so widespread in our territory have in common? What do they have to do with biodiversity conservation? And again, have you ever eaten a root or a seed, or a flower? These and many other curiosities are answered by visiting the university botanical garden. An area of 130 thousand square meters in the suburban area of the city, less than five kilometers from the center and easily accessible from the eastern ring road. It houses numerous reconstructions of natural and agricultural landscapes of southern Puglia, a synergistic vegetable garden and a sensory garden. The Salento botanical garden offers activities and paths that bring you closer to the natural environment, creating an emotionally engaging relationship. Rocks, soil, plants, animals and different microclimates, a few steps from the city, represent an outdoor laboratory of irreplaceable importance for the practice of ecology.
