56th Rally del Salento

It is Piazza Mazzini that hosts the start, finish and the entire 'Rally Village' of the 56th edition of Rally del Salento. Rumbles and thunders through the Heel of Italy on the last weekend of May. The event, organised by the Automobile Club Lecce, offers many new features compared to the 2023 edition that saw Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton triumph on board a Skoda Fabia Evo. From a purely sporting and competitive point of view, the validity, with a 1.5 coefficient, is confirmed for the new Tricolour series, called the Italian Rally Trophy, for the Eighth Zone Rally Cup and for the Zone Rally Trophy, reserved to historic cars. A new idea from AC and its president Francesco Sticchi Damiani, on the other hand, is the Salento Historic Regularity Rally, a medium regularity race for historic cars that will flank the tricolour competition and the historic rally, 'a discipline present in Europe,' explained the president, 'and in strong expansion in Italy, which will certainly be of great appeal to the movement of classic car enthusiasts and sportsmen.

But not only cars and not only sport, the 56th edition of the Rally del Salento has, in fact, in its programme many initiatives of different kinds, all aimed at social inclusion, which is the key theme of all the side events, which will involve above all school pupils from all over the Salento territory.
