Where he dies, he sings

The artist's book "Là dove muore, canta" (There where he dies, he sings), published by Humboldt Books, is the result of Rä di Martino's encounter with Carmelo Bene's archive. The Roman artist starts from the documentary material composed of videos, audios, photographs, manuscripts and about six thousand volumes from the Salento actor's personal library to develop a cycle of works that bring his figure and work into play, investigating what has remained unexpressed in his theatre. The publishing project, promoted by the Lecce Biblio-museum Pole, the Municipality of Otranto and the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, in close dialogue with Salomè Bene and Raffaella Baracchi and in collaboration with the Accademia Mediterranea dell'Attore, is part of the path promoted by the Pole "Twenty years without Bene". During the evening, in addition to the presentation of the book "Là dove muore, canta" (Where he dies, he sings), Rä di Martino will inaugurate the work of the same name, an animated digital image that restores presence to Carmelo Bene and his voice, lent by actor Lino Musella. Rä di Martino will be joined by the director of Ama Franco Ungaro, Brizia Minerva from the Bene Archive, UniSalento contemporary Italian literature lecturer Simone Giorgino, and writer Chiara Valerio. The meeting will be moderated by Lorenzo Madaro, lecturer in History of Contemporary Art at the Brera Academy in Milan. Free entrance.
