UNicA/ 24 bike stories

Alessandra Schepisi and Pierpaolo Romio present their book '24 storie di bici', published by Sole 24 Ore. Alessandra is a journalist in the Rome editorial office of Radio24 and conducts the radio programme 'Freewheeling'. Pierpaolo runs 'Girolibero', Italy's leading tour operator of easy cycling holidays. Together they have collected 24 stories, for whose protagonists the bicycle represents a significant element in their lives. Sport cyclists, extreme cycle travellers, riders, organised holiday cyclists, cycle activists, entrepreneurs, urban planners have declined the two-wheeler in all its possibilities: the bike in the city, as a product, as a sport, as a journey. The bicycle emerges as a constantly growing economic resource, a means of leisure and sporting activity, a non-polluting and increasingly technological means of transport, thanks also to pedal assistance. A symbol of carefreeness and freedom, the bicycle is a varied world full of surprises, which is linked to the past and opens up to the future, promising sustainability and rediscovered harmony with nature.
