Sacred Lecce

It was 1634 when Giulio Cesare Infantino's work 'Lecce Sacra' went to press. The Lecce of that time, its streets, its palaces and its inhabitants, were recounted in the volume through the narration of the art and ingenuity of those who lived and loved it, to explore and appreciate the ancient and devout, authentic and sincere soul of the Leccesi and discover that domestic paradise of saints, blessed, venerable and those who served the faith through sculpted, painted and written art. The anastatic copy of Infantino's volume, edited by Mario Cazzato, will be presented in the premises of the Liceo Classico-musicale 'Giuseppe Palmieri'; Maria Agostinacchio will dialogue with the author. At the presentation, after greetings from headmistress Loredana Di Cuonzo, speakers include archbishop Michele Seccia, culture councillor Fabiana Cicirillo, Artwork president Paolo Babbo and Terra d'Otranto Historical Society president Domenico Urgesi. The meeting is organised in collaboration with ANISA, the National Association of Art History Teachers.
