Resistant Jesus, non-existent Jesus. Two visions compared

Resistant Jesus, non-existent Jesus. Two visions compared

What are a professor of ancient history from Madrid, an American writer from Ontario and a professor of computer science from Salento doing at the Ognibene library? They are debating 'Resilient Jesus, Non-existent Jesus. Two visions compared'. Fernando Bermejo-Rubio (chair of the Department of Ancient History at U.N.E.D. in Madrid) and Francesco Tommasi (lecturer in computer science at UniSalento) support the first thesis, namely that Jesus was an anti-Roman revolutionary. If it is true that he was crucified with two rioters, he must also have been one of the leaders of the anti-Roman sedition. On the other hand, Richard Cevantis Carrier (American writer, expert in history and philosophy) is an advocate of the so-called 'Jesus myth theory'. Carrier states that he is not certain that Jesus did not exist, but attributes a low probability to his actual historical presence. An interesting opportunity to explore an exciting topic, still much debated after two thousand years.

Free entrance.
