What is life worth living for? This is the question from which Calabresi started after 'witnessing' and writing about the story of Rachele who, at 38, discovers that her tumour has returned and decides to leave a diary to her children. "So I began to observe and listen to how the world is changing," says the journalist, "and I looked for people who could give me by example a conviction: you only live once and you must not waste a single moment. The stories are those of simple, 'normal' and yet, perhaps because of this, extraordinary people, of men and women who reacted, who did not resign themselves, who made courageous choices and decided to raise their heads.
