Nicoletta Manni/ La gioia di danzare

She has been “star dancer” in the La Scala Ballet Company since 2014, when she was only 23 years old. She was recently appointed “étoile danseur”, the first and only occasion in history when this title is conferred outside the Paris Opera, underlining her extraordinary talents. Her name is Nicoletta Manni, born near Galatina in 1991, and while she was already wearing ballet shoes at the age of three, she could not have imagined that she would receive the highest rank of ballerina amidst the thunderous applause of an audience in total rapture for a very unusual announcement. The emotion of her sensational career is recounted in "La gioia di danzare" (The joy of dancing) (Garzanti), presented in the foyer of the Teatro Politeama Greco, in dialogue with journalist and music critic Eraldo Martucci and Sonia Greco, director of the theatre.
