Luigi Garlando/The album of dreams

Luigi Garlando/The album of dreams

It all begins when Olga, widow of Antonio Panini, at the end of the Second World War decides to buy a newsstand in the center of Modena. It is the beginning of "The album of dreams" (Mondadori), the latest book by the sports journalist Luigi Garlando, presented in the spaces of the Liberrima bookshop. Years earlier, Antonio Panini, who miraculously escaped the war, fell madly in love and married Olga, known as "la Casereina", because she was the dairyman's daughter. In the difficult interval between the two wars, the two start a large family, giving birth to 8 children. In 1941 Antonio Panini died prematurely at the age of 44 and the story retraces the stages of a great family saga, one of the most fascinating Italian entrepreneurial adventures. A story that could only happen in post-war Italy, in the Emilia-Romagna of the economic boom and football, which became a popular phenomenon. In those years, Panini grew up, learned, fell in love, had children, got sick, recovered and, above all, worked. The newsstand in Corso Duomo gets bigger, new initiatives follow one another, until the "idea" that changes everything arrives, that of the famous stickers that made millions of Italians dream.
