La regola del bonsai/ Carlo D’Amicis

Werner is only seven years old when he learns that his mother is the secret daughter of Eva Braun and Adolf Hitler. His grandfather, then, was not a sweet and loving old man but the most execrable criminal in History, and this guilt that is not his own will make him into a man on the run from himself and shame. The story is the one sketched with relentless pace and tragic and ironic tones by Carlo D'Amicis in "La regola del bonsai" (Mondadori), a novel that starts from a dead end and then stretches into a geographical journey, from Germany to the deep South of Italy, and introspective, into that past from which it is possible to re-emerge and look to the future. The author will present the book in the cloister of the Augustinian convent, at the invitation of the association Diffuse Valuable Ideas, and as part of the "Augustinian Books" review curated by the Department of Culture.
