L’odore dell’Oceano/ Annalisa Bari

It was September 14, 1519 when five sailing ships, carrying 265 men, set sail from the port Seville toward the New World. In command of the flagship, the Trinidad, was Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer who was convinced that the Indies could be reached by sailing westward instead of taking the familiar eastern route. The incredible feat up to the ends of the world is admirably narrated by Salento writer Annalisa Bari in "L'odore dell'oceano" (ed. Esperidi), which, departing from its usual settings on Salento soil, embarks the reader on a journey from the unknown routes along with a load of soul and humanity. The author presents the book together with Raffaele Gorgoni as part of the review curated by the Department of Culture "Agostiniani Libri."
