Kiev/ Nello Scavo

"A one-way ticket is a guarantee of trouble and good stories. But not the return. In my pocket, along with my passport, I have a copy of the insurance policy taken out by my newspaper for the whole of 2022. It says: 'Medical expenses (including hospital expenses) unlimited.' And then, with equal punctiliousness: 'Including reimbursement of expenses for repatriation of the corpse in case of death.' Welcome to Kiev...." Entitled "Kiev" (Garzanti) is the latest book by journalist Nello Scavo, one of Italy's most experienced and award-winning war correspondents, host of Io non l'ho interrotta and of the review curated by the Culture Department "Agostiniani Libri." Scavo reached the Ukrainian capital in mid-February this year, when the Russian threat was growing but still few believed invasion and war possible. The book thus delves into the rapid and tragic turn of events through its impeccable and unconditional journalistic narrative. Dialogue with the author is held by journalist Paola Ancora.
