Cartolina dal Salento / Cristina Carlà

This is Cristina Carlà's second work, 'Cartolina dal Salento' (Postcard from Salento), Collettiva ed., presented in the spaces of the OgniBene library for the 'Agostiniani Libri' review. The book moves between verses of light and at the same time incisive poetry, narrating a land of immeasurable beauty that at the same time can become, and often does become, inhospitable and hostile. Each composition is a pause, from place to place, a narrative that moves from personal experience to the fine dust of Ilva, to buried waste, to insane and deleterious power dynamics, and becomes a choral song. Postcards out of the ordinary, which lift the carpet to show the dust, shift the veil and recount that instinct to flee one's own land which then meets the desire to return and stay.
