In his latest book, "Il tarantismo mediterraneo. Una cartografia culturale" (ItinerArti), Vincenzo Santoro, a scholar of popular music and culture and head of the Anci Culture and Tourism Department, traces the boundaries of a historical cartography of Mediterranean tarantism. It is precisely on the shores of this ancient sea, and particularly on the western shores, that this "cultural institution" seems to have its prevalent area of diffusion, according to a movement that began in the 17th century.
