Agostiniani libri/ The invisible fire

Agostiniani libri/ The invisible fire

Investigates the Salento people's ancient bond with olive trees, uncovers the secrets of the oil industry, reflects on the most paradoxical aspects of our relationship with nature and the enormous power of stories. It is, at the same time, a family novel and the account of a Salem witch trial in the age of social media "Il fuoco invisibile" (Rizzoli), the latest book by Daniele Rielli, in which the writer tackles the Xylella emergency right in the presence of his family's olive trees decimated by the bacterium. Rielli, between novel and reportage, traces the drama of a land and the men who have always cultivated it, but also the reactions, the questionable and contested measures to deal with it, the protests, the landscape of a territory that has changed forever, just as if the entire province of Lecce had been burnt by a gigantic invisible fire. The author presents the book for the Municipality's review "Agostiniani libri" together with Alessandra Beccarisi, professor of History of Medieval Philosophy at the University of Foggia.
