24 Bike Stories

Frans Timmermans, the Minister Giovannini, Paola Pezzo, Norma Gimondi. What do they have in common? The bike. Alessandra Schepisi and Pierpaolo Romio arrive “pedaling” in the spaces of the Bernardini Library to present “24 Stories of bikes” and of well-known and lesser-known personalities and to propose as many ways of experiencing the bicycle.
From the pages thus emerge the story of a Mantuan mechanic, who has been repairing bicycles for fifty years, of a theatrical rider who brings art home, of a solitary traveler in the Siberian ice. 24 stories that follow one another at the rhythm of the pedal and from which the bike emerges as an economic resource in constant growth, an instrument of leisure and sporting activity, an increasingly non-polluting means of transport thanks also to pedal assistance. The world of cycling is a variegated world full of surprises, which is linked to the past and opens up to the future, with promises of sustainability and rediscovered harmony with nature.
